Summer Baseball: Strom strokes winning hit

Ian Strom drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as Milford (13-4) edged Auburn 5-4 in a Zone 4 matchup.

Strom drove in Chris Casey with a single, after Casey reached on an error. Scott Hubener chipped in with an RBI double while Matt Ferrelli went 2-for-4.

Dan Avery pitched 6 1/3 innings, yielding four runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out five, improving his record to 4-0 on the season.

NORTHBOROUGH 15, CHERRY VALLEY 2: Matt Shunney went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, leading an offensive onslaught as Northborough (10-8) pounded Cherry Valley in Zone 4 play.

Owen Shea went 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs, while John Friday was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs for Northborough.

Reid Garrity chipped in with a complete game effort on the bump, yielding two runs on four hits while striking out two.

SENIOR BABE RUTH

FRAMINGHAM 8, WESTBOROUGH 2: Andrew Mooney went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and four RBIs as Framingham (8-3-1) routed Westborough (4-8) in a Senior Babe Ruth matchup.

Pat Carroll went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, while Jayson Brouillard pitched six innings, giving up four hits while striking out five for Framingham.

Kevin Blackney went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk for Westbrough.

SUDBURY 6, NATICK 3: Matt Hall tossed his second consecutive complete game, yielding three runs on five hits while striking out 10 as Sudbury (6-7) defeated Natick in a Senior Babe Ruth tilt.

Owen Dautze led the way offensively for Sudbury (6-7) with two hits and three RBIs .

Mike Bartmann had three hits for Natick.

STAN MUSIAL

CHELMSFORD 4, FRAMINGHAM 2; FRAMINGHAM 3, CHELMSFORD 2: Ken Pennini and Matt Anderson each tossed complete games as Framingham (10-11) split a doubleheader with Chelmsford in Stand Musial action.

In the first game, Sean MacPhee had two hits for Framingham, while Pennini allowed just one earned run.

James Patelis chipped in with two hits in the second game, while Mike Shilalie smacked an RBI triple to drive in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning for Framingham.
